Here is the update on Samsung MKV support:

Last week we made a small change in the clients.db that will improve mkv support. With that in place, we could play all our our mkv test files (that also worked from the Samsung server). The change is only one additional line in the TVs profile in the clients.db file. This change will appear in our next release which will be posted here on the forum (e.g. 5.1.4 or later). If you don't want to wait, you can easily make this change now by locating the client.db file, renaming it clients.txt and making the one line insertion below. Then change the file back to clients.db.

    >>
    NA:Samsung TV
    DD:Samsung DTV
    XM:DLNA15
    XM:FORCE_DURATION
    XM:FORCE_4TH_FIELD
MT:mkv video/x-mkv [Here is the inserted line. Delete this comment]
    DB:FIX

We also checked the fast forward behavior of the TV. The simple summary is: Twonky cannot (currently) support fast forward/rewind for mkv files.

What we found is this: The TV is not doing a fast forward (in terms of a faster playing video. When you press the ff or rew button on the remote, the TV is just jumping to a different position in the stream. To calculate the offset for the jump, the TV seems to use the playtime of the video file. Twonky currently does not support extracting the playtime from mkv files. To get FF working on the Samsung TVs, we would need to enhance our mkv file scanner. I'll put in a request for this, but don't think this will appear in our next release. (e.g. TMS 6.0).
