  Reportedly, Italian tax authorities ''raided'' Valentino Rossi's Italian home last week where they found not only Rossi's championship winning Yamaha M1 MotoGP bike, but Valentino Rossi himself.
  
  Rossi is the center of a tax conflict. Italian authorities say Rossi owes millions in back taxes. Rossi contends that he actually resides in London, thus owes only minimal taxes in Italy.
  
  Being at home in Italy in the middle of the night might not help Rossi's defense.
  
  Rossi, a certifiable gadfly, is taking a light-hearted approach to the situation, seemingly mocking the tax authorities in a recent TV commercial for one of his sponsors.
  
  In a more serious tone he has said that if he owes any additional taxes he will pay them.
  
  Rossi has to be happy on one hand: in his autobiography he lists Honda not giving him the NSR500 he won the title on as one of the reasons he left Honda for Yamaha.
  
  Among the many ex-Rossi race bikes found by the authorities was the aforementioned Yamaha M1.
