  Part 1 - Hogg Files
  Star Trek Online's data is stored in files of a Cryptic proprietary archive format, .hogg located in:

  C:\Users\Public\Games\Cryptic Studios\Star Trek Online\Live\piggs

  There are 12 Hogg files in this directory:

  bins.hogg
  bins2.hogg
  bins3.hogg
  character.hogg
  data.hogg
  dynamic.hogg
  exes.hogg
  object.hogg
  sound.hogg
  texture.hogg
  texture2.hogg
  texture3.hogg

  I found that I was unable to open these archives directly with 7-Zip and Cryptic was of absolutely no help. But, a quick Google search yielded an answer. Using this little program you can extract individual .hogg files to a specified target directory.

  Download Rick's Hogg Extractor from here or there
  Extract bin-rev5.zip to C:\Users\Public\Games\Cryptic Studios\Star Trek Online\Live\piggs
  Open a command prompt and switch directory to C:\Users\Public\Games\Cryptic Studios\Star Trek Online\Live\piggs
  Run the Hogg Extractor executable with the following syntax:

  >Gibbed.Champions.Bacon.exe filename.hogg foldername

  I extracted all texture files to a "textures" directory, and so forth.
